Hours

Hours are currently evenings and weekends by appointment only

We currently only offer services by appointment.

We offer appointments as late as 8pm on weekdays as well as up to 4pm on Saturday.

We do not offer services 24/7. If it is an emergency call 9-1-1 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

What to expect

We use a HIPAA compliant electronic records system. After booking your first appointment, you will receive an email invite to our secure portal to access your intake forms. We ask that you complete them before your first appointment if possible. At the very least completing the intake questionnaire helps us understand your needs before you arrive.

There is no need to arrive early. If you arrive early, you are welcomed to wait in our lobby where we offer complimentary coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and water. You can watch TV while you wait or use our free Wi-Fi if you prefer.

Please bring your photo ID, insurance card, legal guardianship (if needed), and referral letter if received.

We understand that coming to therapy can be overwhelming. If you have someone to help you through this process, they are welcome to attend.

The first appointment is more of a meet and greet. We will go over your paperwork as well as get to know each other. This will also give you time to see if our facility feels like the right fit for you as well as help us understand your needs.

Counseling for children is between 30-45 minutes. For adults, the average session is 60 minutes but can be as short as 30 minutes for well adjusted clients or 2 hours for ones needing more intensive care.

For most, appointments are once a week. However; the exact frequency depends on your needs.

For most people 12 sessions are needed but the exact amount depends on your requirements and progress. Some clients need less and some need more. The exact amount depends on what you need.

Counseling is all about your needs first. Ideally we want to see you well adjusted as soon as possible but the exact length of treatment depends on you. If you feel you are not ready to transition out of treatment, we can continue as long as needed.

What are your policies?

We ask that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours prior to your appointment so someone else may use the slot. Cancelling late or not showing for an appointment delays others from receiving treatment as soon as they deserve. Of course, life doesn’t always work out the way we like. Clients are allowed a maximum of 3 late cancellations/no shows. After 3 no shows/late cancellations a $50 late fee will be accessed before you may been seen again. If your insurance forbids charging for no shows or late cancellations, you will need to sign a contract agreeing to make your appointments. If you breach this contract then services will be terminated at this point.

We love our pets just as much as you do. If you have a certified therapy pet, you are welcomed to bring them to your session. If they are not certified we ask that you leave them at home as untrained pets can not only interfere with the therapy process but disrupt other clients.

We can provide letters for school and work. We also provide letters to assist with treatment by other health professions to coordinate care. If a letter requires a fee, we will let you know beforehand.

We do not provide letters stating the need for an emotional support animal.

Often families think requesting records will help them somehow in court. Progress notes, particularly in children, are written in a very abstract and written in metaphor. The therapy provided at Ash Counseling is intended to assist the treatment of the individual and is not useful in court. Particularly in children, progress is nonverbal. While we can provide testimony in court for a fee, we can only provide details as to the current progress of the client. We cannot provide opinions, speculate, or comment on if a particular parent or guardian is fit.

Before requesting attempting to subpoena records or request a court appearance, we ask that you have your attorney call so that we can explain the process. Records requests, court appearances, and testimony are subject to the fee schedule paid in advance.
